Talal, Daniyal & Kirmani say JIT seeking more time to save its credibility
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders have said the joint investigation team (JIT) should tell the nation that on whose orders they carried out phone-tapping of Prime Minister’s House and the media monitoring, which they submitted to the SC in the form of 75 pages.
They said the JIT complaints were uncalled for, and the PML-N viewpoint had been proved right. PML-N leaders – Talal Chaudhry, Daniya Aziz and Asif Kirmani were talking to the media outside the Supreme Court building, here on Monday.
They said that the JIT was seeking more time to save its credibility as it has failed to complete its task of getting any evidence against the prime minister’s family. Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr Asif Kirmani advised PTI chief Imran Khan not to become self-proclaimed spokesman for the JIT.
He urged the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of Imran Khan’s statement about good news even before the submission of the report by the JIT, investigating the Panama Papers case.
Kirmani questioned as to which good news Imran was talking about, adding that they had presented their reservations about the JIT in the Supreme Court and before people. PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz said Imran was avoiding the courts and the Election Commission, adding that people should eliminate those derailing democracy in the next general elections.
“Imran himself is a court and Election Commission absconder,” Daniyal told the media outside the ECP building, adding that Imran and his counsel had not submit any reply yet. He said Imran topped the list of those levelling allegations against all state institutions but was not presenting himself for accountability.
Daniyal said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against whom Imran had levelled allegation of money-laundering had presented himself for accountability, but the PTI chief didn’t file even a single reply in Najam Sethi’s 35 punctures case, despite receiving 46 notices.
He said Imran had alleged that the ECP was sold out, attacked the Supreme Court and filed an application before the apex court in Hanif Abbasi case, stating he had no money trail. “On the one hand, Imran has locked down the accountability commission in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for the last two years, and on the other, he presents himself as Nelson Mandela,” he remarked.
