NAWABSHAH: Daur Town Committee Chairman Chaudhry Waseem Afzal Rajput was adopting anti-party steps, said Daur Town Committee Vice Chairman Yaseen Brohi. He was speaking at a press conference held here on Tuesday.
The vice chairman further added that he had informed the high-ups of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) about these activities but no action was taken. Yaseen Brohi said that the chairman, after taking charge, had not carried out development work in the town committee’s jurisdiction, adding that the chairman had distributed an amount of Rs5 million—to be allocated in the units of councillors—to persons of his own choice.
The vice chairman further alleged that due to such steps, PPP’s status was being affected. He said that whenever he tried to talk to the chairman, he [the chairman] suggested him to resign.
The vice chairman, who announced to resign from the office, said that he was a senior party worker and went to jail during democracy restoration movement. He demanded that resignation must be taken from the chairman or it would adversely hurt PPP’s prospects to win a seat in provincial assembly in the upcoming general elections. He asserted that he would not take his decision back until the chairman would resign. On the other hand, the PPP leadership has started taking steps to convince the vice chairman to not resign.
