A woman was allegedly killed by her husband in Railway Colony, II Chundrigar Road, on Monday.
Mithadar police duty officer Azhar said a 30-year-old woman, Sadia, lost her life after her husband, Umar, attacked her with a brick, striking a fatal blow to the victim's head.
He said the victim’s neighbours reported that the couple was heard yelling at each other during the wee hours of Monday and later on the woman started screaming for help.
When their neighbours entered the house, the man had escaped and the bleeding woman was moved to the Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
The body was handed over to heirs for burial and a hunt has been launched to arrest the suspect, the police officer said.
On May 19, in what was the third case of 'honour' killing reported in the city this month, a 55-year-old woman, Bakht Nama, was shot dead by her husband, Muhammad Khan, in Faqeera Goth for ‘being in an objectionable relationship’.
On May 18, 35-year-old Neelum was shot dead by her 60-year-old father, Jahanzaib, on the pretext of having an ‘illicit relationship’. This month’s first case was reported on May 7 when a woman was strangled to death by her father and brother in Keamari Town’s Bhatta Village for ‘wishing to marry one of her brother-in-laws.’ Twenty-two-year-old Farzana’s family tried to cover up the murder by claiming she committed suicide.
