KARACHI: Pakistan play against Singapore in their first match of Asian Junior Team championships at the National Squash Centre, Bukit Jalil, Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday (tomorrow).
According to the draws announced by Asian Squash Federation (ASF) on Monday, top seeds Pakistan are drawn against ninth seeds Singapore in the first match of Pool A.
Pakistan will play against eighth seeds South Korea the same day.
The championships will end on February 1.
The team comprising Tayyab Aslam, Ali Bukhari, Asim Khan, and Israr Ahmed, left for the event on the 25th. Fahim Gul is accompanying the team as manager and coach.
The Pool B has second seeds Malaysia, seventh seeds Kuwait, and 10th seeds Japan.
The teams of Pool C are third seeds India, sixth seeds Jordan, 11th seeds Sri Lanka, and 14th seeds Chinese Taipei.
The four teams of Pool D are fourth seeds Hong Kong, fifth seeds Iran, 12th seeds Iraq, and 13th seeds Indonesia.
If Pakistan top their pool, they will face the second top team of Pool B on Friday.
The centre has 10 singles squash courts and one all-glass court.
Pakistan have won this championship for 13 times. They won the inaugural edition in Singapore held from February 1-6, 1983, defeating Malaysia in the final.
