PESHAWAR: Assistant superintendents Central Prison Peshawar have requested the chief justice of Peshawar High Court to take notice of what they believed was one-sided inquiry by a judicial officer against their colleagues on the complaint of an inmate of his alleged torture and then registration of first information report on the basis of the inquiry.

Assistant Superintendents of Central Prison Peshawar including Waqas, Shamrooz Khan, Kashif, Haseeb, Salman Khan and Ihsanuddin sent an application through registrar of the Peshawar High Court.

They requested that the inquiry report may be reversed and the FIR against the assistant superintendent Shamrooz Khan and Siyar Ali chief Chakkar of the prison be declared null and void.

They said the inquiry conducted by judicial magistrate was one-sided conducted only on the complaint of an inmate without observing the legal and codal formalities. The officials said responsible correction officers of Prison Department were not consulted nor given the chance for their defence to bring the actual position and facts to the front.

It was submitted that FIR had been registered recently against their colleagues, Shamrooz Khan, assistant superintendent, and Siyar Ali Chief Chakkar in the East Cantt Police Station under sections 419, 420, 468, 471, 506 and 182 of PPC after the inquiry by judicial officer Muhammad Asghar Khan on the complaint of prisoner Ismail, son of Aurangzeb, confined in the Central Prison Peshawar.
