PARC, University of Wah sign MoU on food security
Islamabad: The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and University of Wah signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for ways and means to meet future demands of the country's food security.
Addressing the ceremony, PARC chairman Dr. Yusuf Zafar said that the University of Wah was pursuing a dynamic higher educational program focused on quality education and research. “To meet the future demands of food security without posing threats to environment is a tough challenge," he said.
He further said the PARC was the apex agricultural research organization in the country and was working at national and international levels to meet the country's food security. He thanked the management and participants of the University of Wah for their cooperation.
Prof Asghari Banno, senior representative of Wah university, said that research activity was important. She said the scientists of the PARC, after adopting due protocols would be engage as co-supervisors for PH.D students. "Both sides will appoint focal persons who will hold periodic meetings to work-out the details of the program on such terms and conditions as agreeable to them," she said. Prof Asghari Banno said at present, the ultimate goal of the university was to provide liberal exchange of knowledge among students to develop them into qualified scientists.
