FDE may close schools for summer vacation earlier than planned
Islamabad: The basic calendar of activities made by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) suggests that all public sector educational institutions in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) will formally close campuses on June 5 on account of summer vacation.
However, there is a possibility of the early closure of ICT schools for the vacation lasting more than two months. The reason is that the authorities are seriously considering this proposal in light of the possible start of the fasting month of Ramazan on May 27 (Saturday) as indicated by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
A decision in this respect will take place shortly in consultation with the Capital Administration and Development Division, insisted a relevant official of the Federal Directorate of Education overseeing ICT schools and colleges totaling more than 400.
The Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments have already announced summer vacation for their educational institutions at the end of the current month. The KP schools and colleges will observe summer vacation from May 27 and Punjab's from May 25. According to the FDE plans, repairs and maintenance will be carried out at the ICT schools and colleges during summer vacation.
