UNPO wrongly terms CPEC as breach of law

India’s psy war tactics and propaganda war tactics against Pakistan and its vital interests have remained on a sustained track not only because of the strategic maneouvres of Indian government and its agencies but also because of some other organizations that work hand in glove to promote Modi Sarkar’s anti-Pakistan agenda, claiming simultaneously- and paradoxically- that they are independent and free from governmental influence and networking.

A report recently released by Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) in partnership with Mahatma Gandhi International AISBL is a case in point. Instead of throwing light on the most heinous human rights violations in Held Kashmir and other insurgency-laden regions that include Assam and Nagaland, UNPO and its ally have released a report on “Human Rights in Pakistan”. The subject report has been featured under Human Rights in South Asia Campaign and has portrayed complete Indian propaganda themes on some Pakistani areas with focus on hitting China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to the report, CPEC is breach of international law and is being implemented without consultation or compensation to the people of the area. This is factually untrue as complete consensus prevails among all the segments in all the provinces of Pakistan including Gilgit Baltistan that CPEC is a way forward that would lead the country out of economic instability and decline besides connecting Pakistan with the outside world through a fast-communication track.

As for the compensation, the affected persons have been paid compensation for their utilized lands at market rates, even beyond that, which means they have been paid on the higher side. This has been established in media surveys. The Government of Pakistan has handled this matter with fair and transparent approach.

Quite shockingly, the report has further continued to poke its nose in Pakistan’s internal affairs and developmental works as it has declared that Diamer Basha Dam spells disaster for the people of Gilgit Baltistan area. This narrative appears to have been built by design as if it would create secessionist tendencies in the people of this area against Pakistan. This effort of Indian propagandists is bound to fail once again as it has failed in the past. The people of Gilgit Baltistan have been openly expressing their loyalty and satisfaction with the state of Pakistan and the policies pursued by the state set-up.

In the same report, there is mention of Pakistan’s GSP (Plus) status as well as the report says: “Pakistan enjoyed Special Incentive Arrangement under GSP (Plus) bilateral trade relations with EU and ratified 27 international conventions including Human Rights Convention but did not implement all of them.”
