PESHAWAR: Adviser to Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) provincial president Amir Muqam said on Friday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan could not digest the development work being carried out by the federal government and for this reason had crossed all limits in his rivalry.

Addressing a big public meeting and later addressing a ceremony after inaugurating a 40-MVA transformer at a grid station in the constituency NA-1 here, he said that Imran Khan was trying to pitch the state institutions against one another.

Hidayatullah Afridi, the brother of former provincial minister Ziaullah Afridi who was expelled from the PTI, announced joining the PML-N on the occasion.

Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar PML-N provincial general secretary Murtaza Javed Abbasi and others were also present on the occasion.

Amir Muqam maintained that Imran Khan needlessly criticised the institutions and political opponents to cover up the failure of the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

He claimed that Imran Khan had failed to honour the commitment of establishing 360 dams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and provide relief to the people. "He should have constructed at least 360 swimming pools so the people could go there and beat the heat to get some relief in the hot summer days," he mocked.

Amir Muqam pointed out that the PTI chief did not even hesitate to pass negative comments on matters of national interest. "Imran Khan prefers social media instead of solving the problems of people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," he added.

He said the federal government of the PML-N was working day and night to serve the masses and carry out development while the PTI chief only criticised his opponents. "The people have become fed up with the double standard and incompetency of Imran Khan and have started deserting the PTI," he claimed.

He advised Imran Khan to try to win the election if he believed in ballot. "It is the right way to be elected as prime minister. You cannot get into power through the backdoor because there is none," he said.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had offered explanation of the three generations of the Sharif family and was proved innocent. "Imran Khan could not offer any explanation to clear his name and is using cheap tactics to defame the Sharif family," he stressed.

Criticising the Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) that ruled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2008-2013, Amir Muqam, while referring to their election symbols, said that lantern had run out of oil while the arrow had broken. "The future belongs to the PML-N," he declared.

He condemned the attack on the Deputy Chairman Senate and central leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and prayed for his speedy recovery along with others who sustained injuries in an act of terrorism in Mastung in Balochistan.

He also expressed sympathies with the bereaved families who lost their near and dear ones in the attack.
