May 5 rally continuation of PTI anti-graft drive, says KP CM
NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the May 5 rally will be a continuation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) movement for the ouster of corrupt rulers.
Speaking at a public meeting here on Monday, he said the masses supported the PTI on the issue of accountability of the corrupt rulers. He said his party would make all the rulers accountable.
Pervez Khattak said that constituents of his home district supported his policies, adding that he would not bring workers from other districts for the rally at the Khatokhel Stadium in Nowshera Kalan on May 5.
He asked the party workers and councillors to make arrangements for the rally to show to the entire country that Nowshera was the stronghold of PTI.Pervez Khattak pinned high hopes on the Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting. He confirmed that he had scheduled an important meeting with Sindh’s Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in this regard.
“Sindh is also suffering due to the negligent approach of the federal government as prime minister has confined himself to Punjab,” he added. The chief minister advised the federal government to abandon what he believed was the policy of ignoring the smaller federating units. He vowed to defend the province’s rights at the CCI meeting. “Net hydel profit under the AGN Qazi formula, royalty on gas, province right over the surplus gas and other important issues will be discussed at the meeting,” he added.
Pervez Khattak said he would protect the interests of the province at any cost, adding that he would not compromise on the province rights. The chief minister said that Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had always sought control over resources, especially natural gas. He added that provinces should have share in the federal taxes.
Rejecting the allegations by the opposition which had said that the PTI had failed in launching development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said his government had signed record agreements in this regards.“We have attracted investments worth over 23 billion dollars. The Chinese industrialists have started materialising the agreements,” he added.
The chief minister said that his government’s struggle against corruption was visible and tangible. He accused Adviser to Prime Minister Amir Muqam of misguiding the people. Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel, District Nazim Liaqat Khan, Member National Assembly Dr Imran Khattak, MPAs Mian Khaleequr Rehman Khattak, Idrees Khattak, Tehsil Nazim Zar Alam Khan and others also spoke on the occasion.
