KARACHI: There was a list on Nacta website of all the banned organisations until a few days ago, but it has now been withdrawn, and one has no other avenue for information about such organisations. This is quite confusing amid the rumours about the banning of the Jamaatud Dawa, said Shahzaib Khanzada in Geo News programme ‘Aaj Shahzaib Khanzada Kay Sath’ on Thursday. Khanzada said that the government and the PTI had joined hands in the fight against nine diseases prevailing in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. It is pertinent to mention here that 305 cases of polio were reported in the country last year. Fata was the most affected area in this regard where 178 cases were reported and 68 in the rest of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The World Health Organisation (WHO) had declared Peshawar to be the biggest hub of polio virus. Khanzada said that the Pakistan Steel Mills had been going through a very serious financial crisis. The Steel Mills deficit is now Rs275 billion. The organisation does not have funds to pay salaries to its employees. He said it was ironic that this was happening under the PML-N government. The PML-N was the harshest critic of the former PPP government’s policy towards the Steel Mills. Shahzaib Khanzada said that a judgment of the Indian Supreme Court had once again tainted the standing of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that the court’s judgment in the IPL corruption case had declared the cricket league as the largest den of corruption. In a different segment of the programme, Islamabad bureau chief of Geo News, Rana Jawad, in response to a question why the government was silent on the status of the Jamaatud Dawa amid reports of its having been banned, said that this was a very sensitive issue because the Jamaatud Dawa had a very large network of social welfare. They had set up schools and hospitals. In fact, Jamaatud Dawa has the largest ambulance service in the country. Moreover, a large section of the population thinks that since Jamaatud Dawa has transformed itself into a welfare concern, there can be no justification in taking action against it. Senior analyst Hamid Mir said that acceptance of 4 PTI MPAs resignations by the speaker of Sindh Assembly was a clear indication that PPP’s policy towards the PTI had changed, and now the PPP wanted to create some problems for the PTI. Mir said that he thought that the PTI would like to have five or six members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly elected as senators and then finally resign from the National and provincial assemblies. He said that the government’s failure to honour the promises made with the PTI would further deepen the crisis.Vikrant Gupta said in the programme that he was very much satisfied with the Indian Supreme Court judgment. He said it was high time the cricket system should completely be cleansed of corruption. “I think the main cause of corruption is involvement of so much money in the game,” he said, adding that restriction on such teams would definitely have positive result on the future of IPL. Now if Chennai Super King and Rajasthan Royals both are out of the tournament, only six teams are left and the public would lose further interest. Six of the current Indian World Cup squad members are playing either for the Chennai Super King or Rajasthan Royals. He further said that nobody was given a clean chit and names of 13 players were given in a secret envelope so that they were not maligned unless charges against them were proved. “Now a question on the role of ICC would certainly arise as Srinivasan’s involvement has surfaced,” he said. Former chief of Steel Mills Abdul Qayyum speaking in the show said that the best management was required to run such institutions besides focus on technical capabilities to maintain a plant. He said that there should be no involvement of politics in such institutions. The Steel Mills had such a skilled workforce that turns iron into gold with their hands. They on a self-help basis had repaired blast furnace, steel converter and other machinery. He said the mill had started to improve after the government injected Rs18 billion into it. “We need to improve our marketing,” he said, adding that Ukraine and China had entered the market.
