The city is expected to experience another hot day as the meteorological department has predicated that mercury levels would likely touch 41 degrees Celsius again on Monday.

The met office stated that the weather in the city would remain hot and dry for the next 24 hours.

It was pointed out that the temperature in Karachi was expected to remain between 41 to 39 degrees Celsius during the day.

The maximum temperature recorded in the city on Sunday was 41.5 degree Celsius, whereas the minimum was recorded at 25.5 degree Celsius.

Level of humidity recorded in the morning was 71 percent; it had receded to 30 percent by evening.

The Met office claimed that the temperature would gradually start coming down from Tuesday as the intensity of heat is expected to remain between 35 to 36 degrees Celsius.

On Friday, met officials announced that Karachi's weather was set to take a turn for the worse over the next three to four days. The met department’s officials in Karachi issued a warning regarding the possibility of hot and dry weather mainly due to a reduction in sea breeze and inflow of warm, dry winds from interior Sindh.

This combination, officials said, could lead to temperatures rising to around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in Karachi. “We are predicting a short spell of hot and dry weather for the next three to four days. In this period, temperatures are expected to rise to 38-40 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday. Fortunately, with Labour Day falling on Monday, there are three holidays in a row so people have a chance to stay indoors,” said Shahid Abbas, information director at the PMD’s Karachi office.

On Friday, the maximum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius, but due to the expected stoppage of sea breeze and change in wind direction, mercury levels in the port city are set to rise, he added.
