An anti-terrorism court (ATC) to hear 17 cases against Lyari gang war don Uzair Baloch, PPP MNA Shahjahan Baloch, Amin Buledi and other accused on May 25.

The court was informed on Saturday that Baloch and Buledi were charged with involvement in an attack on police and possessing illegal arms and explosive material.

A report, submitted to the court on behalf of the prison authorities, said that the custody of Uzair Baloch had been handed over to the Pakistan Army under the Official Secret Act, 1923, on April 11; hence, it was not possible to produce him before the trial court in17 cases. The court adjourned the hearing to May 25.

The suspects are alleged to have attacked and killed several policemen during the Lyari operation in 2012. Uzair, Shahjahan Baloch and others were also facing charges of a triple murder.

The two along with others allegedly killed gangster Arshad Pappu, Pappu’s brother and his friend.

Murder case

The additional district and sessions judge (South) heard the arguments of the attorneys over a bail plea of an alleged killer, Arman.

Arman is alleged to have raped and killed his friend, Feroz, in Janaury 2017 in the Baghdadi police limits.

The counsel for the accused prayed to the court to grant bail to his client. However, the state attorney strongly opposed the plea, saying that the accused had killed his friend.

Arman allegedly gave Feroz intoxicating medicines. After the victim became unconscious, he committed an unnatural offence and killed him.  The state attorney asked the court to reject the bail plea of the accused and order the transfer the case to an ATC.
