Health department to purchase 200 dialysis machines

CM Murad says equipment to be provided to hospitals across province on as-needed basis

Sindh’s chief minister said on Saturday that his government would purchase 200 dialysis machines for hospitals across the province on an as-needed basis. “We are giving priority to health, education and the social sector.”

CM Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over different meetings at the New Secretariat to discuss the provincial Annual Development Programme’s (ADP) schemes launched in Nawabshah and Sukkur.

The meetings were attended by provincial ministers Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Jam Mehtab Dahar, Jam Khan Shoro, Imdad Pitafi and Fazay Butt, Planning & Development Chairman M Waseem, Principal Secretary Sohail Rajput and secretaries of different departments.

 

Sanghar

The meeting was told that 68 schemes were launched by 10 different departments in Sanghar. The total cost of these schemes is Rs3.39 billion against which Rs3.67 billion have been released while the utilisation is around Rs2.53 billion.

Seven schemes were launched by the education department, one by the health department, one by the industries department, 10 by the irrigation department, one by the law department, nine by the local government department, 14 by the public health engineering (PHE) department, four by the rural development department and 17 by the works department.

CM Shah said he had identified 13 ongoing schemes that had been provided with all the funds so they could be completed by the end of June.

 

Naushahroferoze

In Naushahroferoze, 11 different departments have launched 75 schemes of Rs6.14 billion against which Rs1.86 billion have been released while the expenditures are Rs1.37 billion.

Three schemes were launched by the education department, one by the Sindh Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority, one by the health department, 12 by the irrigation department, two by the law department, 20 by the LG department, nine by the PHE department, three by the rural development department, one by the social welfare department, one by the sports department and 22 by the works department.

CM Shah said he had identified 22 ongoing schemes that had been provided with all the funds so they could be completed by the end of June.

 

Shaheed Benazirabad

In Shaheed Benazirabad, 17 different departments have launched 148 schemes of Rs5.98 billion and almost the entire amount has been released against which utilisation is Rs4.09 billion.

One scheme was launched by the agriculture department, 11 by the education department, six by the universities & boards department, one by the forest department, eight by the health department, three by the home department, one each by the industries and information departments, 20 by the irrigation department, two by the law department, 25 by the LG department, 12 by the livestock department, three by the solid waste management department, 17 by the PHE department, seven by the rural development department, two by the services & general administration department (S&GAD), one by the sports department, two by the women development department and 40 by the works department.

CM Shah said the government had identified 30 schemes that would be completed by the end of June.

 

Khairpur

In Khairpur, 24 different departments have launched 224 schemes worth Rs9.81 billion against which Rs5.61 billion have been released and the utilisation is Rs3.28 billion.

Five schemes were launched by the agriculture department, one each by the zakat department, the board of revenue (BoR), the food department, the information department, the livestock department, the rural development department, the board of investment, the social welfare department and the transport department, 17 by the universities & boards department, 12 by the health department, two by the home department, 50 by the LG department, three by the education department and 54 by the works department. Shah said 69 schemes in Khairpur district would be completed by the end of June.

 

Ghotki

In Ghotki, nine departments have launched 53 schemes worth Rs1.95 billion against which Rs1.41 billion have been released and the expenditures are Rs921.97 million. The government has identified seven schemes that would be completed by the end of June.

The meeting was told that there were a number of fertiliser plants and oil and gas fields, but the federal government was not supporting the district to construct roads.

The officials complained that due to heavy traffic because of the fertiliser plants and gas fields, the roads constructed under the district’s ADP had dilapidated. They urged the chief executive to talk to the federal government to reconstruct the roads because the Centre collected huge taxes from the province.

 

Sukkur

In Sukkur, 21 departments have launched 108 schemes worth Rs5.1 billion against which Rs3.63 billion have been released while the expenditures are Rs2.2 billion.

Two schemes each were launched by the agriculture and zakat departments, one each by the BoR, the universities & boards department, the finance department, the industries department, the information department, the minorities department, the rural development department and the women development department, four each by the culture department and the S&GAD, 18 by the education department, 10 by the irrigation department, four by the law department, six by the LG department, five by the PHE department, three by the sports department and 33 by the works department.
