AJK PM seeks collaboration in higher education with CIIT

Islamabad: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan accompanied by his Minister for Higher, Elementary and Secondary Education, Syed Iftikhar Ali Gillani, visited Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Islamabad Campus, on Tuesday, to discuss areas of mutual cooperation in higher learning between universities in AJ&K and CIIT.

The visiting delegation from AJ&K were given a complete tour of CIIT, Islamabad Campus and were briefed about CIIT’s facilities, academic features and future plans by the CIIT Rector Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar. CIIT Registrar, Director P&D, Director HRD and other senior officials of CIIT Islamabad Campus also accompanied the visiting delegation.

Farooq Haider Khan was highly impressed by the achievements of CIIT and its state-of-the-art facilities, and expressed hope that universities in AJ&K would follow CIIT’s footsteps towards achieving excellence in higher education and research.

Interacting with senior officials and HODs of CIIT Islamabad campus, Farooq Haider Khan announced that, in the initial phase, two universities in Mirpur would be selected to setup avenues of collaborative research and academia with CIIT and later other universities will be added in the program.

Officials from CIIT and the AJ&K delegation termed the visit as successful in opening doors of collaboration in higher learning and research between universities in AJ&K and CIIT; to facilitate the upgrading of higher education systems in AJ&K and to benefit AJ&K universities from CIIT’s experience as a leading force of higher education in Pakistan.
