AJK govt has to be a quotable model: JKCHR
Islamabad: Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights (JKCHR) has said that people of Jammu and Kashmir on either side of the cease fire line and the Kashmiri Diaspora have been largely performing their duties as voter citizens and have failed to perform their most important follow up as a vigilant citizens, says a press release.
Dr. Syed Nazir Gilani, President JKCHR currently visiting Pakistan and Azad Kashmir said that it is because of this non vigilance that Kashmir Government in occupied Kashmir waived the entry permit required by an Indian until March 1959 and allowed him a free entry and repeated the error of non-vigilance by allowing BJP a passage into the State governance in 2015. These two errors have not been addressed properly so far.
He said that on home front we have not addressed the issue of duties at home and duties abroad. The political, moral and diplomatic support provided by the Government of Pakistan to the just cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir has failed to make an impact, for want of a better government and administration in Azad Kashmir. Its failure to address itself to the duties shared with the Government of Pakistan under UNCIP resolutions needs urgent attention.
JKCHR president said that recycling of an outdated method of Government in the territory and pedalling an unimpressive diplomatic activity outside Azad Kashmir do more harm than earn any relief for the suffering people of Indian occupied Kashmir and in advancing the cause of self-determination.
Dr. Nazir Gilani said that visits of the President and Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir to United Kingdom, Brussels and Norway were a good effort and unless such future efforts embed a broad spread of participation from all walks of life, these activities conducted in the name of the constitutional duties would end up in travels without a foot mark.
Dr. Nazir Gilani said that Azad Kashmir Government needs to address the role of overseas member in the AJK assembly and tap the huge potential of Kashmiri Diaspora spread all over the world. Unfortunately the visits of the president and prime minister were roller skated as a routine and it has not helped the Kashmir cause or earned any relief to the people facing the brutal atrocities at the hands of Indian occupation force.
JKCHR president counselled the AJK leadership to work for a better tomorrow of the people of Azad Kashmir and for the right of self-determination of the people of the State on merit and stop the practice of renting columns in Pakistani press as a routine. Kashmiri leaders need to credit themselves with a proven administrative and diplomatic work record.
Dr. Nazir Gilani said that Azad Kashmir Government has to be a quotable model. It has to work hard to shrug off the ridicule that it has earned for some time. The resources of Azad Kashmir should be placed in equity at the disposal of all who work for the rights of the people and in particular who defend and highlight the right of self-determination.
