Two policemen among three shot at, injured

LAHORE

Two officials of CIA Ghaziabad and a civilian were shot at and wounded by some unidentified car riders near Lady Willingdon Hospital on Tuesday. 

The injured officials identified as Rizwan and Zafar along with a civilian Afzal were admitted to hospital where condition of two officials was said to be critical. DIG Operations also visited the hospital and inquired after the health of the injured cops. 

shot dead: A 60-year-old man was shot dead by some unidentified persons near his house in the Shafiqabad area on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Allauddin of Main Bazaar, Kasurpura, Shafiqabad.

According to the victim’s son, his father Allauddin had stepped out of his house to go to his shop when some unidentified armed persons shot at and wounded him and fled the scene. The injured man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a murder case against unidentified murderers.  

Meanwhile, two persons were found dead in different parts of the city on Tuesday. A 25-year-old man was found dead in the Sanda area. Some passersby spotted the body of a man lying in Rewaz Garden and informed the police. The deceased identified as Afzal, an addict. 

Meanwhile, a 40-year-old man was recovered dead from Laxmi Chowk. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of drugs overdose. Police shifted the bodies to morgue. 

hit to death: A motorcyclist was killed by a speeding truck on Raiwind Road on Tuesday. 

The victim, identified as Saeed Ahmad, was passing through Raiwind Road on a bike when a rashly-driven truck ran over him, resulting into his instant death. Police removed the body to mortuary. 

vehicle set ablaze: Some unidentified persons set a four-wheeler of Lahore Waste Management Company on fire in the Badami Bagh area on Tuesday. 

The vehicle was completely damaged by the time the firefighters reached the spot. It was reported that some unidentified persons intercepted the vehicle and set the vehicle ablaze.

accidents:Total 708 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which nine lives were lost and 588 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts and tehsils.

However, some 238 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by Emergency Medical Teams.

fake visas: Immigration officials of FIA, Lahore, Tuesday apprehended three passengers at Allama Iqbal Airport Lahore for travelling on fake visas.

According to the FIA officials, the passengers were identified as Saleem, Usman and Kamran who wanted to go abroad on fake travel documents. The accused have been handed over to Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the FIA Lahore. 

Lunch: A lunch and award distributing ceremony for 43 retiring police officials of investigations wing was held at Investigations Headquarters on Tuesday. 

The officials who were going to retire and were present in the ceremony included sub-inspector Aftab Ahmad, Maqsood Ahmad, Amjad Ali, Muhammad Latif, ASI Ibrar Hussain, Muhammad Mushtaq, head constable Muhammad Nawaz, Constable Muhammad Nasir Ashraf, Ghulam Rasool, Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Akhtar, Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Fayyaz, Mehmood Ahmad, Riasat Ali, Amjad Ali, Nazar Hussain, Nisar Ahmad, Zawar Ahmad, Muhammad Ilyas, Arif Hussain, Ibrahim and Muhammad Aslam and others.

DIG Investigations Ch Sultan and SSP Investigations Ghulam Mubashir distributed the certificates. 

Speaking on the occasion, DIG Sultan Ch said police department appreciated the retired police officials and honored them. They during their service performed their duties diligently in Investigations Wing, CIA, CRO Branch and AVLS Staff branch. They were organising this ceremony to set a tradition to appreciate their services for the department as they could not tender them monitory help.

The officials who were going to retire sacrificed their whole life for protecting life and property of citizens and that was not less than an honour for the department.

He said the retiring officials should not consider themselves separated from the department.

They should remain a part of the department and serve it by becoming part of 111 information system, an intelligence system of Lahore Police. They can contribute their services in maintaining law and order through this.
