‘Number of trauma patients higher than any disease’

Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Ameer ud Din Medical College Prof Ghiyas un Nabi Tayyab has said the number of patients of trauma are more than any disease in Pakistan.

The ratio of causalities and injuries cannot be reduced without adopting comprehensive safety measures. Seniors Professors should apprise and guide young doctors about modern techniques of trauma management.

He expressed these views while addressing a workshop organised by Surgery Department, Lahore General Hospital in connection with provision of immediate medical aid to the injured of accidents, according to a press release issued on Monday.

Prof Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof Muhammad Farooq Afzal, Prof Khalid Mahmood, Prof Tariq Suhail, Prof Mueed Iqbal Qureshi, Prof Kamran Khalid Khwaja, Prof Jaudat Saleem and Dr Shuaib Nabi shared their experiences with young doctors about how to deal with the patients when they are in critical condition. The young doctors were imparted practical training and their questions were answered. Prof Tayyab said all the persons related to trauma management must keep in mind the SOPs of the process. He said emergency ward is the most important department of a hospital therefore the CM has taken extra ordinary steps to upgrade these departments all over the province. He stressed the doctors, nurses and paramedics to give priority to the victims of accidents providing them maximum medical cover in order to save their lives. They should aware the patients and their attendants about the importance of careful driving. The participants of the workshop were also given away shields at the end of the event.

kidney, liver institute site: Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Kh Salman Rafique and Minister for Primary & Secondary Health Kh Imran Nazir visited the under-construction site of Pakistan Kidney, Liver Transplantation and Research Institute at Badian Road on Monday. 

According to a handout, the ministers reviewed the pace of work on the project. They attended a meeting to finalise the arrangements of inaugural ceremony of the Hepatitis Prevention & Control Clinic on the site. Hepatitis Prevention & Control Clinic has been set up for the diagnosis and treatment of the patients. The inaugural ceremony of the clinic is expected in a week. Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmed Khawaja, Commissioner Lahore Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Deputy Commissioner Syed Samer Ahmed, President PKLI Prof. Saeed Akhtar, Chief Executive Infrastructure Development Authority Mujahid Sherdil, Secretary Health Dr Sajid Chauhan, Deputy Secretary to Chief Minister Mehtab and others were present.
