Summons for IGP suspended in PAT case
LAHORE
A full bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Yawar Ali on Friday suspended operation on summons issued to the Inspector General of Police Punjab by an anti-terrorism court in killing of Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers in Model Town by police.
On Friday, the bench while suspending operation on summons, issued notice to Jawad Hamid, a leader of PAT, for March 17 for reply.
Counsel of IGP Mushtaq Sukhera submitted that on private complaint of PAT, the ATC had issued summons to the IGP for March 11. He said these summons were issued on baseless information provided to the court as he was not on this seat when the incident happened.
The ATC judge, Muhammad Azam, had summoned 127 persons, including IGP Mushtaq Sukhera, DIG Operations, former DCO Lahore and others for March 11 (today).
