A village electrification drive using solar energy to be carried out in collaboration with China would soon be launched across Sindh. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting between Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Chinese Consul General in Karachi Wang Yu on Tuesday.
Sharing details, the CM said the provincial government had a village electrification project worth Rs2 billion under the ADP scheme. The allocation for project in the current financial year stands at Rs500 million.
The Chinese consul general said his government has initially allocated $80,000 for providing solar panels to be installed in rural areas of Sindh. He also assured the CM of providing all technical support and more financial assistance once the work on the project commenced. CM Shah said the villages to be catered would be the ones located far away from the transmission route of the national grid.
