ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday emphasised that effective utilisation of foreign funds was exceedingly important to guarantee accelerated economic development and growth.
“[In order to achieve that objective] completion of development projects on time must be ensured,” Dar asserted while reviewing the progress of foreign-funded projects at a meeting with the officials of Economic Affairs Division (EAD).
He directed the EAD team to maintain close liaison with the development partners and strive to remove any hurdles impeding the implementation of projects. Earlier, secretary Economic Affairs Division (EAD) briefed the finance minister on the utilisation of foreign assistance in various sectors across the country.
The minister was informed about various projects in energy, communication, water, and social sectors being implemented with the assistance of different multilateral and bilateral development partners. The EAD official also filled in the minister on the progress of disbursement of funds to different projects.
