Zubair meets PSP leaders, urges need to work collectively
As part of his efforts to reach out to different political stakeholders in Sindh for promoting harmony, Governor Mohammad Zubair met with a three-member delegation of the Pak Sarzameen Party led by its leader Raza Haroon on Friday.
The meeting was significant in the sense that that it was PSP founder and former city nazim Mustafa Kamal’s tirade against then governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and the latter’s response that eventually led to the removal of Zubair’s predecessor from the post.
Ebad remained the governor of Sindh for over 13 years: the longest serving term for any governor in the four provinces of the country.
Under his strategy to reach out to different stakeholders, the new Sindh governor had earlier met with a delegation of the Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan and also had telephonic conversations with the leaders of other political parties in the province.
The PSP delegation that met with the governor also included Waseem Aftab and Asif Husnain.
A handout issued by the Governor’s House read that the participants of the meeting discussed the overall political situation and other issues of mutual interest.
The governor said on the occasion that he had started contacting different political forces for maintaining peace, promoting harmony and addressing the problems faced by the province.
He added that all quarters concerned needed to work together for the prosperity and development of the province.
He said many mega development projects had been launched in the province after the restoration of peace.
He noted that one such project was the K-IV bulk water supply scheme, which would resolve the problem of water shortage in Karachi. He added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was personally interested in the completion of the K-IV project by the end of next year.
He added that the prime minister was keen on developing Sindh and the provincial government too also striving tirelessly towards this cause.
Zubair said he would try his best to ensure that the Centre and the provincial government would jointly work to serve the people of Sindh.
The PSP delegation assured the governor that the party would fully cooperate with him for the development of the province, Karachi in particular.
