A strong resistance put up by an official of Islamabad Police forced the Enforcement Wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to abandon its operation against an illegally-constructed house in a village of Banigala here on Wednesday.
According to an official of CDA, Head Constable Ansar Mehmood of Islamabad Police resorted to aerial firing with his pistol when the enforcement team led deputy director Imaduddin reached Dhoke Illahi Bakhsh to demolish an illegally-constructed house.
The CDA Enforcement Directorate had received information that the police official had constructed five rooms on the CDA land in Dhoke Illahi Bakhsh of Banigala.
“As we reached there, Ansar resorted to firing in the air with his pistol and also attacked our vehicle with the assistance of some people,” the CDA officer accompanying the raiding team said.
He said as a result of attack, the window glasses of the vehicle were broken and two of the personnel received minor injuries. “We have submitted an application to the Banigala Police Station for registration of an FIR,” he said.
The official was of the view that the CDA did not need to serve any notice prior to demolishing any illegal construction on its land. The operation would be re-launched again and involvement of the police official would be brought into the notice of his seniors.
