Sahil, a child rights organisation, received a prestigious award in connection with the International Human Rights Day at Aiwan-i-Sadar here on Saturday.
President Mamnoon Hussain gave away the award to Sahil National Programme Manager Sahil Umer Kiani in recognition of his organisation's efforts for the promotion and protection of child rights in the country.
Kiani was among the people and organisations who got the award for outstanding contribution and services in the field of human rights.
Sahil is an organisation working to develop a protective environment for children free from all forms of violence especially child sexual abuse. It was established in 1996 as an NGO to ensure the protection of children.
Sahil executive director Sahil Manizeh Bano said, "We feel proud to receive this prestigious award and we are thankful to our staff, volunteers and all well-wishers and supporters across the country." She added that indeed it’s a proud moment.
