Global health supply planning workshop held
Islamabad: A daylong workshop was held in the conference hall of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation to finalise the work plan for the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project here on Thursday.
Secretary health Muhammad Ayub Sheikh chaired the workshop, which was also attended by senior officials from provincial health and population welfare departments, Sangita Patel and Monica Villanueva from USAID’s Health Office, and senior representatives of development partners and international NGOs.
Speaking on the occasion, Ayub Sheikh emphasised the need for provinces to adopt a proactive approach by institutionalising the reforms implemented through technical assistance of the project for sustainability, and to show their commitments through allocation of resources for these improvements. Dr. Muhammad Tariq, country director of the GHSC-PSM project briefed the audience about the goals and objectives of the project and highlighted intended areas of intervention.
Earlie, Sangita Patel and Monica Villanueva talked about the US government’s assistance for improvement of health services in Pakistan, focusing primarily on maternal and child health. They urged government and all partners to join hands and undertake concerted efforts to improve the health landscape of Pakistan. Representatives from provincial health and population departments also shared their vision and priority areas for technical assistance by the project. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks.
