MANSEHRA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment, Torgahr, booked a former provincial minister and 14 other suspects, including his son, for allegedly embezzling over Rs60 million.

"We have booked a former provincial minster, his son and 14 other suspects who withdrew an amount of over Rs60 million fraudulently," Shahjehan Khan, the circle in-charge of ACE Torghar told reporters on Tuesday.

He said that first information report (FIR) was lodged against former minster for Haj and Zakat Nimroz Khan and his son Amir Nimroz and 14 other persons under Anti-Corruption Act.The official said the money was meant for seminaries and mosques and was never used on the approved projects.

The inquiry was initiated against the accused when heads of seminaries and prayer leaders alleged that the money was released for seminaries and mosques but was not paid to them. The Anti-Corruption Establishment restarted the inquiry last month after the Peshawar High Court ordered it to continue its probe against the former minster after dismissing his plea to dismiss the petition.
