‘Little effort by society can help special children greatly’

Commander 4 Corps Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali has said that provision of congenial environment to better upbringing of the children with mental and physical impairment is moral and social responsibility.

He was speaking at an event organised in connection with International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Rising Sun Institute for Special Children, DHA Campus, here on Saturday.

The event was arranged by Pakistan Peace Collective (PPC) and Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage in collaboration with Rising Sun Education and Welfare Society. President and founder of Rising Sun Education and Welfare Society Parveen Tawwab, former Punjab Governor Lt-Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool, Lt-Gen (r) Shahid Iqbal, PPC Chief Operating Officer Shabbir Anwar and Mahmood Ahmad also spoke on the occasion and emphasised on creating greater awareness among the general public about the capabilities of special persons.

The Corps Commander said, "All of us should play our role in creating awareness regarding giving donations to right organisation which completely do good work.

He said a little effort on part of society could conveniently help special children explore their dormant capabilities to overcome mental and physical disabilities. He urged the philanthropists and affluent members of society to come forward and contribute to this noble cause. He eulogised the dedication of faculty members in working for welfare and rehabilitation of special children and advised them to promote these positive values among other segments of society as well.  

Shabbir Anwar said PPC was a project of the government of Pakistan and its aim was to increase public support and bolster resilience against extremism and violence in Pakistan. He also told about programmes like "Haq Haqdaar Tak" and "Pur Azam Pakistan." 

Lt-Gen Sadiq Ali distributed prizes and certificates of merit among special children on their achievements in different activities. Earlier, the special children also presented a tableau.
