CM directs officials to solve water shortage problem in Hayatabad

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has asked high-ups of Water and Sanitation Company to take steps for finding immediate solution to water problems in Hayatabad.

This he said while presiding over a meeting of the Board of Directors of WSSC at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday.  The chief minister also ordered the company to outsource solid waste management, cleanliness and water connection and collection of bills and submit report in this regard within 15 days. He also ordered the company to hand over the responsibility of provision of connection and bill collection to the same company.

Pervez Khattak said the objectives for which the company was formed should be achieved. He expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the company with regard to provision of drinking water in Hayatabad and asked for chalking out a comprehensive plan in collaboration with PDA for the purpose. The meeting was informed that 578 tube-wells were operational in the city while only seven were out of order. The chief minister ordered to re-operationalise the out-of-order tube-wells and take proper action for repair of overhead reservoirs.

He sanctioned enhancement and tariff rate and asked concerned authorities to fix the rate after proper consultation to avoid complication in future. Similarly, he also asked for 10 percent enhancement and tariff rate annually.

The chief minister directed release of Rs700 million to the company. He asked for submission of proposal to include balance of the one line development grant of the company in the next ADP.

Pervez Khattak agreed to the proposal of getting NOC from the company before establishment of new housing schemes and construction of commercial plazas. He asked quarters concerned to take steps for proper implementation of the recommendation.
