Islamabad
The uncertainty and fear have gripped the residents of the twin cities who were found asking one another what would happen on November 2 on the occasion of a political showdown by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
"I would not want my husband and kids to go out tomorrow because the situation is apparently not good outside as the policemen and protesters are roaming on streets in almost all areas of the city," said Munazza Saeed, a resident of Sector I-10. She said there are reports of tear gas, stone-pelting and baton-charge and in these conditions it would not be a right decision to go out and face any unexpected situation. It is pertinent to mention here that workers of PTI especially from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are continuously arriving in Islamabad and the police have set up check posts to discourage their entry into the capital city.
Nadia Shaukat, a resident of Asghar Mall area in Rawalpindi, said they faced really bad situation when the police fired shells of tear gas and it was difficult to breath, adding "I think the situation will be worse on November 2." "The protest is a democratic right of political parties but the politics of agitation and resistance has never benefited any democracy in the world. Those who want to be in government should adopt democratic ways and strengthen parliament after winning elections," she said.
