CNICs of Ulema on Fourth Schedule to be restored
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan has said that all those enlisted in the Fourth Schedule are Pakistani nationals and how can they be denied their right to identification i.e. the CNICs. The interior minister directed the concerned department that if any such action had been taken, it should be corrected.
A delegation of Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC), headed by Maulana Samiul
Haq, called on Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here on Friday.
Talking to the delegation, the interior minister said that religion is strength, honor and pride of Pakistan and no power can separate the religion from the country, the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior quoted the minister as saying.
He said that Pakistan was created on the basis of Islamic ideology and would continue to adhere to this ideology.The minister pointed out that the provinces would be asked to review the Fourth Schedulers List.
The minister said that religious forces had played a pivotal role for improvement of the security situation across Pakistan. He added that religious scholars and leaders would not be allowed to be targeted.
The minister asserted that reservations and issues raised by the religious leaders would be addressed in consultation with the provincial governments.The overall situation of the country, along with the security situation, was discussed during the meeting.
Talking to the minister, the delegation members said that they would always be on the forefront in every issue that relates to Islam and Pakistan.They said that the DPC greatly appreciates the efforts aimed at improving the security situation in the country. The DPC members observed that some elements were attempting to target the religious forces adding that the government should take notice of such incidents.
