Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik Wednesday said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given an approval for the recruitment of doctors in district and tehsil headquarters hospitals on ad hoc basis to overcome shortage of doctors in these hospitals.
“The posts of medical officers, women medical officers and specialists will be filled through ad hoc appointments,” he said while presiding over a meeting, according to a hand. Special Secretary Health Salman Mufti, Director General Health Dr. Zahid Pervez, Deputy Secretary Adnan Zafar, Deputy Secretary Raja Mansoor and other officers attended the meeting.
DG Health informed that applications have been invited from the candidates and advertisement is also been published in newspapers for this purpose. The Health Secretary directed that instructions be issued to the administration of DHQ and THQ hospitals and District Recruitment Committees accordingly. He said all recruitments will be done purely on merit basis. He said preference should be given to the doctors of the same district.
He said hundreds vacant posts of doctors will be filled within a short period of time which would help to overcome the shortage of doctors. This will improve the working of the hospitals and provide relief to patients.
