The three schoolgirls who had gone missing in Saudabad on October 14 were rescued by police in a raid conducted in Liaquatabad on Sunday.

The police have also arrested a few suspects in connection with the case.

The girls’ families had approached the Saudabad police station where FIR No. 290/2016 lodged under Section 365-B/34 was registered.

The families had narrated that they had dropped he girls at their school on time but the school management maintained that they were absent. The families had protested and blocked roads.

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell and the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee teams had started working on the case and two separate raids were conducted on the night of October 14 wherein a few suspects were arrested.

The teams again conducted raids and arrested more suspects following which the three girls were found in Liaquatabad.

The girls’ families appreciated the AVCC and CPLC teams’ efforts for their rescue.

Sources said the announcement and details of the girls’ rescue and the arrested suspects would be disclosed in a media briefing by DIG Jameel Ahmed of the Crime Investigation Agency on Monday (today).

Investigation sources said the girls had left their homes over domestic issues, probably disagreements with their parents.

They added taking advantage of their innocence, some criminals tried to trap them and take them to an upcountry location. However, the police timely foiled their attempt.

On Saturday, police had detained three boys and questioned them about the three girls. The three girls were Class-IX students and went to the same school in Saudabad, Malir.

Police said the girls were in contact with the detained boys, whose cell phones contained text messages exchanged with the girls. They said one girl’s cell phone was traced to an area adjacent to the Ayesha Bawani School on Sharea Faisal.
