Babar beaten twice as 6-Red World Snooker begins
KARACHI: Pakistan’s Babar Masih had a nightmarish start in the Sagnsom 6-Red World Snooker Championship 2016 in Bangkok as he crashed to humiliating defeats in his first couple of matches.
According to the information made available by the Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association (PBSA), here on Monday, Babar was humbled by local boy Ratchapol Pu-Ob-Orm 5-1 with the frame scores of 67-0, 65-0, 67-0, 22-34, 59-19, 62-0.
Stuart Bingham of England downed him in a similar fashion with the scores of 66-0, 48-0, 71-0, 0-46, 37-35, 65-0.
Babar was at the bottom place among the six contestants in the Group E.
He has matches against Ryan Day (Wales), Wayne Brown (England) and Darren Morgan (Wales) which makes his task of qualification in the knockout rounds very difficult.
Babar, hailing from the city of Rawalpindi, has followed the footsteps of compatriots Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Sajjad, Hamza Akbar and Majid Ali, who had been invited to the earlier editions of the global tournament.
The event, launched by the Billiard Sports Association of Thailand (BSAT) in 2008, was known as the 6-red Snooker International which was renamed as the 6-Red World Grand Prix before finally being recognised as the official 6-Red World Championship with the blessings of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association.
