654 MQM men have confessed to killing 5,863 people: Rangers

Of the 848 target killers arrested in the province by the Sindh Rangers since September 2013, a total of 654 suspects were affiliated with the militant wing of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
This statistic was part of the operational report released by the paramilitary force on Tuesday. As per the Rangers’ data, the 848 suspects apprehended were collectively involved in a total of 7,224 target killings in the city. The report maintains that the 654 MQM activists arrested have confessed to murdering 5,863 people, which amounts to 81.1 percent of the total target killings reported.
The paramilitary force claimed to have arrested 95 target killers from other militant wings, including Lyari gangsters, and stated that they had confessed to murdering 804 people in the city, which amounted to 11.1 percent of all killings. Lastly, the Rangers stated that 99 suspects were arrested in targeted operations against banned outfits and these militants have admitted to carrying out 557 target killings (7.71 percent).
