CM orders identification of sites for Rapid Bus Service project
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed the authorities concerned to identify different stations and sites for the proposed Peshawar Rapid Bus Service to be initiated towards the end of the current year.
Presiding over a meeting here at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday, the chief minister asked the quarters concerned to widen and clear the alternative routes for diversion of traffic once the project is put on ground. The traffic flow should not be hindered, he added. He also directed for the expansion of overhead bridges, roads and underpasses and planning commercial activities there.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Transport Malik Shah Mohammad Wazir, Head of Strategic Support Unit Sahibzada Saeed and administrative secretaries of departments concerned also attended the meeting.
The chief minister also directed the commissioner of Peshawar, secretaries Transport, Local Government and director general of the Peshawar Development Authority to visit different corridors of the proposed project to identify the sites and stations. He said that there should be all facilities including waiting places, washrooms, water etc.
The chief minister ordered construction of an additional line in the proposed corridors of bus service. He declared that work on the corridors would be started during the current year. Therefore, the departments concerned should finalise their arrangements so that the vehicular flow is unhindered, he said.
The chief minister also directed to complete the project within the time frame as this was the project giving one solution for integrating the whole traffic of Peshawar city on permanent basis. He said that the project should be planned in such a comprehensive way to cater to the future needs of the Peshawar city.
The chief minister ordered to put on fast track the overall beautification projects and complete them within the time frame adding that the cleanliness and disposal of waste should be properly monitored.
