JI to move SC on Panama Leaks: Siraj
LAHORE
Jamaat-i-Islami ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said the party is starting a legal battle against corruption by moving the Supreme Court on Panama Leaks’ issue while it has already launched a mass movement against corruption on roads and streets.
Talking to the media after chairing a meeting of the JI political committee at Mansoora on Thursday, he said financial terrorists, who had plundered trillions of public money and stashed it away in foreign banks, would not find a refuge in the country as a consequence of the JI legal battle. This would help in the recovery of billions lying in Swiss Banks, he added.
Sirajul Haq said JI’s war was against corruption not against any party or individual as it aimed at eliminating corruption. It was due to corruption that every newborn child of the country was under heavy debt.
He said 375 billion dollars owned by the Pakistanis lying in Swiss Banks was undoubtedly the ill-gotten wealth of a few individuals. He said corrupt politicians had taken refuge in different political parties which were providing cover to these criminals only to enhance their strength in the assemblies. It is a pity that people who should be behind bars were at the helm of the affairs in the country, he added.
The JI chief said fresh elections without electoral reforms would simply be a game of politicians. He said the public voted for the corrupt in the elections and then suffered due to the mess created by their elected representatives.
Sirajul Haq expressed concern over the increasing cases of child lifting in Punjab which had created fear and harassment among the parents. He said the Punjab rulers made tall claims of good governance but the facts belied their claims. He said poor parents could not provide security to their wards.
