Rawalpindi: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would pay surprise visits to the public sector schools in all the districts including Rawalpindi after the summer vacations and hold on-the-spot probe from the teachers into the administrative affairs and quality of education.

The directives issued by the Punjab Education Department stated that there should be monitoring committees headed by District Coordination Officers (DCOs) in every district that must pay two visits in a week to different public sector schools to review arrangements and standard of education.

The district monitoring committees to be constituted soon would comprise Executive District Officers (EDOs) and district monitoring officers and these would be responsible to ascertain whether the heads and teachers in the schools are following the directives of the provincial government.

A senior official said the Punjab Chief Minister would start his surprise visits after completion of the summer vacations and teachers would be asked about the course schedule and arrangements as per directions of the education department.

He said the Punjab Chief Minister would go to the classrooms and talk to the students to inquire about their problems, adding “The chief minister usually sits on a desk in the classroom with the students during his surprise visits and asks questions from them in Urdu and English languages.”
