PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Thursday said that his government delivered despite unfavourable conditions it had inherited from the previous governments.

Addressing a 50-member delegation of District Buner at the Chief Minister’s House Peshawar, he said three years back government departments were dysfunctional due to corruption and irregularities while his government purged the governance structure of corruption. He called upon the elected representatives and workers to be united for the vision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to change the system for efficient delivery.

The chief minister said that when he took power in the province the education system was lacking basic infrastructure. “The government recruited 40,000 teachers on emergency basis. Now a primary school would have six rooms. The government eliminated postings and transfers of teachers and their promotion was linked to performance,” he added.

Pervez Khattak said his government introduced reforms in health, education, land revenue, police and other sectors to improve governance. He called upon the elected representatives to support the government efforts and reforms agenda, adding, his government was taking steps for the better future of the nation so that the process of prosperity and development should continue.
