CDA-DWP approves Rs3.977 billion uplift projects
Islamabad: The CDA Development Working Party (CDA-DWP) that met here Thursday approved three development projects worth Rs3.977 billion amid concerns over quality of work as exposed by torrential rains in twin cities in the last over 24 hours.
The CDA-DWP in order to address traffic congestion issues at Shaheen Chowk approved PC-1 of an underpass at the intersection of 9th Avenue with Khayaban-e-Iqbal, designed by M/s NESPAK at an estimated cost of Rs1899 million.
The project will eliminate traffic congestion by providing underpass and other ancillary road work. The scope of this project consists of underpass long Khayaban-e-Iqbal for through traffic and roundabout to serve right turning traffic. The proposed project will be completed within six months.
Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhwa presided over the 76th meeting at the CDA Headquarters.
Senior officers from the Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Division, Ministry of Interior, Finance Division, CDA Board Members and representatives from relevant formations and project consultant attended the meeting.
The meeting also okayed PC-I of flyover at the Junction of G.T Road and Islamabad Highway, prepared and designed by M/s. NESPAK at an estimated cost of Rs1803 million. The scope of the project includes a two lane flyover at Rawat T-Chowk from N-5 (Gujar Khan side) to Islamabad Highway. After completion of the project all intersections will function with signal free traffic flow on Islamabad Highway.
The meeting also accorded approval of PC-I for development of Christian Graveyard in Sector H-8/1 at an estimated cost of Rs275 million.
This initiative aligns with National Commission for Human Rights commitment to uphold human rights, reduces discrimination, public health, interfaith harmony.
Meanwhile, the concerned staff of CDA remained busy all the time to drain out water from various parts of urban areas but they could not prevent a part of newly constructed part of 9th Avenue being swept away by rain water. The damaged portion leading commuters from 9th avenue to Margalla Road is part of recently completed F-8 Interchange.
