Centre to provide Rs250m for Chitral infrastructure, says Muqam
CHITRAL: Adviser to Prime Minister Amir Muqam on Friday said that federal government would provide Rs250 million for reconstruction of bridges in Chitral.
Speaking at a meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office here, he said that Rs500 million was required for reconstruction of bridges in the district.
He said the federal government would provide half of the amount and asked the members provincial assembly from Chitral to secure Rs250 million from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Amir Muqam said that electricity would be provided to Chitral from Golan Gol Hydropower Project. He added that the government would ensure implementation of the prime minister’s directives of waiving off agriculture loans.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader said he had been directed by the prime minister to visit Ursoon village and offered condolences to the bereaved families.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was interested in resolving the problems being faced by the people of Chitral.
“The government has released Rs6 billion for the Lowari Tunnel project while Rs5 billion would be released in the current year,” he added. He said that PC-I of the Chakdarra-Chitral Road had been completed.
Earlier, the deputy commissioner briefed Amir Muqam and other lawmakers. He told them that Rs10 billion was required for rehabilitation of infrastructure in the district.
