More rains forecast
LAHORE
Most of the upper and central parts of the country may witness a rainy Eid as Met Office informed that monsoon incursion will continue in these areas during the current week, particularly during the Eid holidays.
Met officials predicted rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls accompanied by windstorm at scattered places of Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Fata and Kashmir from Wednesday to Friday. There is a high risk of flash flooding in hilly areas, they added.
Met officials warned that the tourist destinations such as Murree, Galliyat, Upper KP (Malakand, Hazara divisions) GB & Kashmir are also expected to receive, at times, heavy rains during Eid days that may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas. The tourists are advised to remain abreast with weather updates, NDMA and NHA advisers accordingly.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather continued to prevail in the provincial capital here Monday. Maximum temperature recorded in the city was 37°C while humidity level decreased to 44 percent.
Met officials maintained that heat low lies over North Balochistan with its trough extending southeastwards. Monsoon currents are penetrating in central and upper parts of the country. A weak westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country.
Rainfall was recorded in different cities which included Islamabad, Bokra, Saidpur, Golra, Rawalpindi, Murree, Bhakkar, Malamjaba, Balakot, Dir, Kakul, Garhi Dupatta, Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bagrot, Hunza, Zhob and Barkhan.
PEF: A meeting of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) held on Monday reviewed budgetary allocations for different free education programmes for 2016-17
PEF Managing Director Tariq Mahmood presiding over the meeting, said that the foundation would spend an amount of Rs12 billion on education of children from low income families during the current fiscal year.
This amount would be spent on free schooling projects launched in collaboration with private partnering schools in the province, he added.
