America first?
US President Donald Trump has launched an unnecessary military campaign against Iran. There was no clear justification for this assault. On the ground, little has changed. Iran continues to resist Israel and has reiterated its commitment to pursuing a peaceful nuclear programme. It appears that Israel has ultimately succeeded in drawing the United States into this conflict, despite being led by a president once hailed as a broker of peace and a non-interventionist.
This sudden shift in policy has dealt a significant blow to his credibility and raised questions about the consistency of his administration’s foreign policy. The international community now watches with growing concern as tensions escalate, pushing the region closer to a broader and more dangerous confrontation.
