12 die on road in 24 hours
LAHORE:The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,211 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these accidents, 12 people died, whereas 1,404 were injured. Out of these, 615 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 789 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Meanwhile, four people, including a young woman, lost their lives in separate incidents across the City on Wednesday. In Gujjarpura, two senior citizens died in unrelated natural incidents. Haji Khalil, 55, a passerby in China Scheme, reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack. In another incident, 65-year old Siraj Din, who had come to offer prayers at Jamia Masjid Farooqia, passed away. Edhi spokesperson confirmed both as natural deaths.
In Kot Lakhpat, a woman around 25 years of age was found unconscious in the greenbelt area. She was rushed to General Hospital but could not survive. Her identity remains unidentified, so far, according to Edhi officials. Meanwhile, in Shahdara, a 70-year-old man, identified as Abdullah Hakeem, was found dead at his residence. He had been living alone.
