Double crowns for Abubakar, Rashid in junior tennis
LAHORE: Abubakar Talha and Rashid Ali Bachani clinched two titles each at the Bank of Punjab (BoP) Junior National Tennis Championship 2025 which concluded at the Punjab Tennis Academy Courts.
In the boys U-18 singles final, Abubakar Talha displayed commanding form to defeat Zohaib Afzal Malik 6-3, 6-1. He then teamed up with Zohaib to secure the boys U-18 doubles title, overpowering Haziq Asim and Nabeel Qayum 6-1, 6-2. Both champions are proudly sponsored by SA Group.
Youngster Rashid Ali Bachani from Hyderabad also delivered a stellar performance, lifting both the boys U-14 and U-12 singles titles. He edged past Muhammad Muaz 4-1, 5-3 in the U-14 final and then outclassed the same opponent 4-0, 4-0 in the U-12 title match, highlighting his dominance across age categories.
In the boys U-14 doubles, Abdur Rehman and M Junaid Khan triumphed over M Ibraheem Gill and Zayd Zaman 4-1, 5-3. Muhammad Muaz, of Fatima Group, found redemption in the boys/girls U-12 doubles, partnering Muhammad Ayan to defeat Arsh Imran and Azan Imran 4-0, 4-0.
The girls U-14 title went to Bismal Zia (Ali Embroidery Mills), who edged out Hajra Sohail in a thrilling final 4-2, 2-4, 5-3. In girls U-12, Aiman Rehan defeated Eman Shahbaz 4-2, 2-4, 4-2. In the youngest category, boys/girls U-10, Arsh Imran overcame Ashtar Alam Khan 6-2 to claim the title.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Syed M. Rehan, Chief Internal Auditor, and Zain Ali Bokhari, Senior Manager Marketing, both from the Bank of Punjab, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) and Raquel King-Nicodemus, Public Diplomacy Officer, US Consulate Lahore and former legendary Davis Cupper Rashid Malik.
