Summer season at LRC to begin with Summer Cup, Eid Cup
LAHORE: The Lahore Race Club is all set to launch its 1st Day Summer Meeting 2025 on Monday, June 9, with a six-race card. Headlining the day’s racing are the Summer Cup and the Eid Cup, with the rest of the lineup comprising four divisions of the Fantastic Plate, all covering a 1000-metre distance.
The Summer Cup, a Class-V and Division-V showdown, is expected to ignite serious competition among seven contenders. Little Master is being touted as the likely winner, with Zaman Sahib strongly tipped to finish in the place position. However, Twinkle could spring a surprise, while Naveed-e-Saher, Dil Lagi, Absolutely Not, and Apple Of My Eyes complete the field with potential to challenge the favourites.
The Eid Cup, the fourth event of the day, features a mix of Class-VII and Class-VI participants from Division-I and IV. Black Tiger looks well-poised to dominate, with Wynx projected to secure a place finish. KitKat has been marked as a possible fluke who could upset the order. The rest of the field, including Samson, Quality Street, and Golden Heart, are capable of producing competitive runs.
Action begins with the Fantastic Plate Class-VII Division-VI, comprising 17 runners. Manood JR is being heavily backed for the win, while Leo Star shows enough form to finish in the frame. As a dark horse, Noon Princess may produce a surprise performance. Other participants include Murmraiz The Great, Jalthal, Augustus, Khalid Bin Waleed, Golden Passion, My Kiss, Thunder Lady, Gul-e-Kashmir, Sargana Choice, Usman’s Love, Dubai Love, My Lulu, Sher Dil, and Deep Impact.
The second race, Fantastic Plate Class-VII Division-V, will see 10 runners competing for top honours. Pocket Power is widely regarded as the standout, with Moonsoon Mischief tipped for place. Sky Warrior could disrupt predictions as a fluke entry, while Classic Mystery, Star Crown, Lucky Macs, Al Mabrook, Chika Rika, Mr Asia, and Thunder Man (Krc) are not to be overlooked.
In the fifth contest, a Class-VII Division-II&III race, Qalandar stands out as the favourite. Samore City looks like the most credible runner-up, although Son Of Sultan, viewed as a fluke, may sneak into contention. Other hopefuls include Sarkar Raj, Daaku, Haseeb Warrior, Sardar Bey, Mera Gondal, and Thunder Boy (KRC).
The final race, Fantastic Plate Class-VII Division-IV, closes the evening card with a field of seven. Luckvir is being favoured for the win, with Desert Parri expected to finish second. Paddington, a surprise entry, may disrupt the podium. The remaining contenders are Titxie, Deedawar, Fancy Fire Two, and Azaad.
