ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sh Waqas Akram Thursday vehemently condemned the ‘deliberate delays’ in fixing bail hearings for PTI founder Imran Khan’s cases under ‘frivolous and flimsy’ pretexts and called it a cruel ploy to prolong his ‘illegal incarceration’ in ‘politically-motivated and baseless’ cases.

In a statement issued here, he slammed the ‘illegitimate’ regime for subjecting Imran Khan to inhumane conditions by confining him in an oven-like cell as part of a vindictive plot to break his resolve.

He declared that such oppressive and sinister tactics are destined to fail, as Khan’s spirit remains unbroken and resolute as the entire nation stands firmly behind its leader.

Waqas said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder was being denied all legally and constitutionally guaranteed rights under prison rules, calling it deplorable and unacceptable.

He categorically said that his party would not hold talks with the ‘mandate stolen’ government come what may because they did not have legal, constitutional and moral authority in this regard.

He declared that Imran Khan unequivocally conveyed that at present, there was no dialogue going on but he expressed willingness to hold talks with the establishment solely for the sake of national unity, citing urgent threats from a vengeful Narendra Modi following his recent humiliation.

Both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, he charged, had been handed politically-motivated sentences in completely fictitious and fabricated Al-Qadir Trust case manufactured solely to target them.

Waqas asserted that the Al-Qadir Trust case even could not stand for a minute in a court of law if the judges applied their minds freely and judiciary exercised its constitutional mandate independently.

He stated that Khan would get bail and freedom if the case were simply heard on its merits.

Waqas affirmed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was standing with judiciary like an iron wall, whose independence, he said, had been shackled under the highly controversial 26th Constitutional Amendment, undermining its ability to dispense justice freely and fairly.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf CIS vowed that the party would not rest until the controversial constitutional amendment is overturned to ensure judicial independence, uphold constitutional supremacy, reinforce the rule of law, and establish a truly democratic system in the country.
