Accused confesses to sending 70pc share of corruption money to Bilawal House: Sindh Rangers

KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers on Thursday briefed an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi that the Vice President of the Fishermen’s Cooperative Society, Sultan Qamar Siddiqui, had confessed to sending 70 percent share of the corruption money to the Bilawal House.
The Sindh Rangers presented Sultan Qamar Siddiqui in the Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi and the judges remanded the accused in Rangers custody on charges of extortion and target-killing. The Rangers lawyer briefed the court that the accused was involved in several crimes, including corruption and landgrabbing. The Rangers also said that the accused was involved in assisting terrorists.
The lawyer also told the court that the accused used to give 70 percent share of the money earned from corruption and weapons smuggling to the Bilawal House, the headquarters of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
The ATC subsequently remanded the suspectin the Rangers custody for 90 days.Meanwhile, Corps Commander Karachi Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar visited the Rangers headquarters and held a meeting with Sindh Rangers Director General (DG) Major General Bilal Akbar.
At the Rangers headquarters, the corps commander was briefed on the ongoing targeted operation against criminals and corrupt mafias of the city.Sources said Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar and Major General Bilal Akbar expressed satisfaction over the crackdown and vowed to continue the action.
The visit came a day after the Sindh chief minister wrote a letter to the DG Rangers expressing his concern over raids on state-run institutions, especially the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA).
