Pakistan rejects India’s claim of truce violations
Information minister says as of now, there have not been any violations of ceasefire
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan rejected India’s claim of ceasefire violations just hours after a ceasefire between the two countries came into effect on Saturday.
Speaking to Geo News, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said, “As of now, there have not been any violations of ceasefire.” He said there is no question of any truce violations, as the Pakistani nation is celebrating the victory.
Earlier, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri accused Pakistan of violating the ceasefire and said Indian forces were responding accordingly. He added the Indian armed forces had been given instructions to “deal strongly” with any violations.
Responding to media queries regarding Indian foreign secretary’s statement, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson in a statement said Pakistan remains committed to “faithful implementation of ceasefire” between Pakistan and India.
Notwithstanding, the Spokesperson said, the “violations being committed by India in some areas, our forces are handling the situation with responsibility and restraint”.
The spokesperson added, “We believe that any issues in smooth implementation of the ceasefire should be addressed through communication at appropriate levels. The troops on ground should also exercise restraint.”
