Lawyers condemn Indian aggression
PESHAWAR: The legal fraternity on Wednesday condemned India’s aggression and its cowardly attacks on civilians, declaring their unwavering support for the country’s security forces.
In a show of solidarity, lawyers passed several resolutions backing the armed forces and called on the nation, political parties, and organizations to unite for the country’s integrity. They vowed to make any sacrifice necessary for the nation’s defense.
Lawyers held a protest rally outside the KP Assembly against Indian aggression. The protest followed an emergency general body meeting of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association, presided over by its president, Advocate Aminur Rehman Yousafzai.
The meeting was attended by vice president Arshad Nowsherwi, general secretary Ashfaq Dawoodzai and joint secretary Asad Zaib among others. The speakers at the meeting condemned India’s cowardly attacks and emphasized that politicians must set aside differences, and respect each other’s mandates. Aminur Rehman said that insulting elected representatives in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa only fuels division, and stressed the urgent need for national unity.
The lawyers passed unanimous resolutions expressing solidarity with security forces and urging all state institutions to work together for the nation’s survival. They declared that lawyers would remain at the forefront in safeguarding national sovereignty.
Following the meeting, a large number of lawyers marched from the Peshawar High Court to the Provincial Assembly, chanting slogans in support of the armed forces and against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Protesters blocked Khyber Road and symbolically burned the Indian flag, warning that continued Indian aggression could trigger an unending regional war, for which the Modi government would be fully responsible. They praised Pakistan’s prompt military response and firm retaliation to Indian provocations.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council also condemned India’s attacks on civilian populations, describing the ongoing Pakistan-India conflict as a serious threat to regional stability.
In a statement, the council denounced the Indian military’s targeting of innocent Pakistanis as a cowardly and disgraceful act.The council emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces are giving a strong response and the entire nation stands by them.
Expressing confidence in national defense, the council warned that war between two nuclear-armed neighbours would endanger both countries’ security. It urged the United Nations to intervene and take meaningful steps to de-escalate tensions and restore peace in the region.
