CUSIT organises psychosocial camp in Bajaur
PESHAWAR: The City University of Science and Information Technology (CUSIT), Peshawar, organized a psychosocial support camp in the Khar headquarters of Bajaur tribal district to promote peace and resilience among marginalized communities.
A press release on Sunday said the camp was conducted at the Hujra or male guest house of a notable of the area, Mateehullah Khan.The initiative was part of the Community Resilience Building for Countering Violent Extremism Project.
The European Union, in collaboration with the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), funds the project.The organisers said the camp provided a platform for community engagement, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being and resilience in fostering a more peaceful and cohesive society.
The event was held under the leadership of CUSIT Vice-Chancellor Engr Dr Nasrullah Khan. Dr Tuba Shahzadi, a psychologist and assistant professor at CUSIT, took a counseling session. She guided the participants on mental health and coping strategies. Gifts were distributed to participants after the event as a gesture of appreciation.
The communication said the initiative reflected CUSIT’s commitment to enhancing social cohesion and mental health, helping communities remain strong in the face of adversity, and contributing to a peaceful and progressive society.
